Celebrating International Disability Day
Realize is delighted to have had the opportunity to have met with over 80 individuals with disabilities and their families, over 40 members of the community from community activists to local businesses throughout December in celebration of International Disability Day.
On December 7th, Realize held its social launch evening and was delighted to receive such a warm welcome from the local community. Realize shared its vision and plans for the coming year and encouraged those attending to start to think about how they as individuals could make a step towards promoting inclusion in their community.
On December 9th, Realize welcomed 39 individuals with disabilities and their families to a Christmas Big Breakfast to give the chance for children and young people with disabilities to socialise and have fun, for families to share etheir experiences, information and build peer support networks. Families enjoyed a breakfast, craft activities and visit from Father Christmas.
On December 10th, Realize in partnership with Chaa Creek offered 4 children the opportunity to experience horse riding with our volunteer hippotherapist. This was a first for most children and their achievements in such a short period of time was incredible.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Chaa Creek for providing the opportunity for children to access a horse riding experience session and to Hodes for hosting the Realize Social Launch and Family Christmas Big Breakfast.
